DPLL COVID-19 Protocols – Spring 2021
1. Facility Enhancements and Precautions
o A new hand-wash sink has been installed on the west side (closest to Schick Field) of the concessions stand.
o Multiple hand sanitizer stations are being deployed throughout the facility.
o Common touch surfaces are disinfected at regular intervals.
o Limited items available at concession stand.
o Bleachers used to supplement dugouts.
o Fans should bring their own chairs or utilize the picnic benches as half of the bleachers will be off limits for games.
o Score-booth limited to 1 individual or family.
o Games will be umpired from behind the plate by an umpire wearing a face covering.
o Each team will have a designated “bench-coach” who will oversee players situated in the bleacher dugouts and will also be responsible for keeping team fans in compliance with face covering and social distancing requirements.
o Temperatures may be checked for all registered players and volunteers at the DPLL facility for games and practices.
o Absolutely no sharing of equipment or water bottles among registered players.
2. Face Coverings
o Required to be worn upon by all individuals above the age of 3 entering the DPLL facility and when moving along the common areas.
o A cloth mask is required to be worn inside concession stand by any concession volunteers.
o Ballplayers may remove covering when baseball/softball activity begins. This exception also applies when ballplayers are seated in the bleachers on pre marked spots or at the batting cages as long as social distancing of 6 feet is being observed.
o Coaches are required to wear a face covering during games and practices only when they are not able to maintain social distancing.
o Umpires are required to wear a face covering during games only when they are not able to maintain social distancing.
o Parents/Fans may remove face covering when situated at the facility to watch the game or practice in a socially distanced manner. You must wear your covering when walking in common areas such as to the concession stand, bathrooms or parking lot.
3. Temperature Checks
o Please do not come to the DPLL facility if you or your ballplayer have not been fever free, without medication, for at least 24 hours.
o Temperature checks may be performed on all registered ballplayers and volunteers at the DPLL facility on game days and practices. Anyone with a temperature registering at 100.4 Fahrenheit or higher will not be allowed to participate in league activity and must leave the facility.
§ Anyone with a fever will be given a 2nd opportunity for a temperature check to be performed with a thermometer by the DPLL volunteer. The 2nd check will be performed 5 minutes after the first check.
4. COVID-19 Symptoms for ballplayer or anyone in the ballplayers household
o Per CDC guidelines, the ballplayer may not return to DPLL facility or participate in DPLL activities until
§ 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared and
§ 24 hours with no fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and
§ Other symptoms of COVID-19 are improving.
5. Testing Positive for COVID-19
o If a ballplayer or anyone in the ballplayer’s household tests positive, they are not allowed at the DPLL facility for at least 10 days since the positive test date, and
o 24 hours with no fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and,
o Other symptoms of COVID-19 are improving.
6. Team Status
o A team that reports multiple individuals with COVID-19 symptoms or positive COVID-19 test results, within a 5 day time frame, will be removed from the leagues schedule for a minimum of 10 days.
§ In Order to return to play, the conditions of item 4 or 5 must be met.
o The league will adjust schedules as much as practical to play any missed games.
7. Exemptions to Quarantine
o A person who has tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 3 months and recovered do not have to quarantine or get tested again as long as they do not develop new symptoms.
o A person who has been fully vaccinated and does not develop new symptoms.
